Marketing is fun, talking about the importance of local government is essential in having the voters learn about the candidates, especially myself. The municipal council is truly about procedures and why council meetings evolved in their format through the provincially mandated Municipal Act.
Why do we have several volunteer advisory committees with local citizens? Why are there public planning meetings once per month and how are the agendas built? Why are some motions voted on with a recorded vote, while most are simply a show of hands?
Why is Woodstock council different than Oxford County Council? Why is our local system different than the format in London or Chatham-Kent or Brantford & Brant County? Who is the warden of Oxford and how is that role decided? Why does the Waterloo area have a Regional Chair, and Oxford has a warden? There's lots to talk about on your front porch or invite me in for a coffee with milk.
Woodstock's Dundas Streetscape plan most certainly created other projects to lag or be delayed or cancelled, but why? Why was Streetscape unnecessary -- financially and in actual reality? Who was the councilor who quickly said 'No' to a grand addition of City Hall as presented by a consultant? (Answer: Me.)
Should a recreation facility in the Cowan Fields (Woodstock Northeast) include 2 arenas immediately? Where does a second pool fit in the mix? Ask me and the history of these concepts can be discussed and a look to the horizon can be determined.
