Who is Monteith-Brown; what's a needs assessment study ?

Sports and recreation facilities are a major item of concern in Woodstock and certainly a significant municipal election issue.
The City's recreation department -- as led by director Brian Connors -- has compiled reports like a Needs Assessment Study to understand supply-and-demand by local user groups. Consultant Monteith-Brown is based in London and they did the comprehensive 2022 report.
In November of 2024 the North Woodstock recreation plan was released and it included many price breakdowns for possible construction, but those pictures (Below in link) and prices certainly fluctuate. Supply-and-demand numbers are included for readers who aren't sure / convinced the City did its homework.
On-going work is a list led by park and trail creation at the former Downs At Cedar Creek golf course and expanding change rooms at Southside Aquatic Centre.
I've been a member of the Woodstock Recreation Advisory Committee for 25 years, including 7 as chair. With 8 years on the committee as a council member plus also 8 years on the UTRCA board, I believe the great outdoors and fitness opportunities are very important.
